Our Christmas Express trips start Saturday, November 20th and trips are filling quickly. Enjoy cocoa and cookies before departure, stories, games, carol singing, and the reading of the Polar Express on board and a visit from very special person! Call the Ticket Office for available dates and reservations. Many trips are sold out. If you cannot ride the Christmas Express, perhaps a trip November 19th or 22nd when the fares are reduced. (The 20th and 21st are Christmas Express trips.) Nestled in the mountains of Georgia in the Chattahoochee National Forest, historic Blue Ridge awaits you and your family. Known for friendly folks and old time atmosphere, it's definitely a place to visit. Blue Ridge has been called the "antique capital" of north west Georgia. Rent a cabin AVENAIR MTN CABINS 1-800-MTN-CABINS, climb a mountain, hike a trail and ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Blue Ridge Scenic Railway passengers arriving in McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, now have an hour and a half layover, allowing time to have lunch, do some shopping, or just to explore the two cities. (Sunday's layovers IN NOVEMBER are only 1 hour. There is no layover for the Christmas Express trips.) Train Events The Ocoee Rail Adventure offered by Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and Wildwater, Ltd. Rafting $72.76 (includes tax) Board the train in Blue Ridge, Georgia, for a scenic trip along the Toccoa River. When you arrive at the McCaysville platform, you will be met by Wildwater representative(s) and transported to their Center for a sandwich buffet and pre-trip preparations. After eating, you will begin your rafting trip on the Ocoee River. Be sure to wear appropriate attire (bathing suits and/or shorts and T-shirts, and old shoes or water sandals). Personal items can be stored in the Wildwater Center. Bring a towel and dry change of clothes for later. (Guests may want to bring money for photos of the rafting trip and/or souvenirs.) After your rafting trip, Wildwater will transport you back to your vehicle in Blue Ridge. Minimum age is 12 years old. Holiday Trains Promise Fun for the Whole Family November 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway celebrates the holidays with The Christmas Express -- twelve festive, fun-filled train rides. Passengers will be treated to holiday refreshments at the depot before boarding. On board, they will hear The Polar Express, sing Christmas carols, and visit with the North Pole's jolliest elf himself during the ride. Seats are limited: Advance reservations are required. For tickets or more information, call: 1-800-934-1898 Departures - 11:00am on November 20; all other Friday and Saturday departures are at 10:00am and 2:30pm; Sundays at 1:00pm. Cost is $28.00 for Adults and Seniors; $15.00 for kids(age 2 - 12). (all prices are plus tax) Train Route The train route consists of a 26-mile round trip through historic Murphy Junction along the beautiful Toccoa River. This railroad was built over 100 years ago and is the only mainline railroad excursion service based in Georgia. Each trip begins at the depot in Blue Ridge, Georgia and includes a stop in McCaysville which permits passengers to disembark and stretch their legs while exploring the downtown communities of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee. Each round trip takes approximately 3 1/2 hours.
